Anita Robinson
Nuu-chah-nulth Artist
Anita was born in the village
of Ahousat, B.C. to Luke & Elsie Robinson March 5, 1964. She credits
her mother for teaching & inspiring her to become a weaver. She
grew up & attended school in Nanaimo, B.C. She has three boys &
spends some of her spare time etching glass in traditional Nuu-chah-nulth
form. Anita began weaving June 1999 & is very excited about keeping
the tradition of weaving alive within her family. Although she was born
in Ahousat, she is registered with the Nitinaht First Nation which is
located just two hours North of Port Alberni. Anita comes from a family
who is very well known for their weaving. Her grandmother, Mrs. Little
was a well known weaver of the Ahousat First Nation. It is very
good to see that today’s younger generation is keeping the weaving alive.
