Douglas David
Nuu-chah-nulth Artist

Douglas was born in Seattle, Washington December 12th, 1971 to Joe David & Sandra Tuitra. His mother is from the Dakota, Sioux nation & his father is from the Tla-o-qui-aht tribe which is located directly across from Tofino, B.C. He has been carving for the past 13 years & credits his soul for inspiring him to become a carver. He grew up & attended school in Seattle, & San Francisco. He works on computers when he isn’t busy carving. He is married to Angela & has seven children ages 2 years and up. Douglas enjoys carving wood & uses his Nuu-chah-nulth background to give his work the history & symbolism
of his ancestors.
