Frank Lucas
Nuu-chah-nulth Artist

Francis was born in the village of Ahousaht, which is located 12 miles northwest of Tofino, B.C. He is from the Hesquiat Tribe, which is located about 50 miles northwest of Tofino. Francis credits Daniel Alec for inspiring him to become a carver. Frank has been carving since 1994. He enjoys carving hummingbirds, which is the joyful messenger and healer. Frank relies solely on his carving for his living. He enjoys carving with his fellow artists such as Mark Mickey and Harry Williams. Frank travels to many different places on the west coast making sure that he brings his carving knife with him so he can continue his work wherever he goes.
